Petronet LNG Ltd, Dahej, Gujarat

Key Achievements

  • Keller moved up in the value chain by delivering project directly to principle EPC Contractor.
  • Micro planning of the project helped us in performing piling and column works simultaneously and deliver the milestones in just 6 months duration.
  • Efficient methodology were adopted to deliver project despite heavy rainfall during peak operations.

The Project

Petronet LNG Limited, India’s largest LNG import company, was expanding its Dahej plant (on the west coast of India) from 10MMTPA to 15MMTPA. The existing terminal was in operation for 10 years. The expansion required construction of two (2) no’s of 90 meter diameter LNG storage tanks and the associated regasification facilities. Keller India was contracted by IHI Corporation, Tokyo to execute foundation works for both the LNG Tanks.

The Challenge

The main challenge was to deliver 16 contractual milestones in scheduled period of time and that involves simultaneous working of piling and column installation. Additionally it was a challenge to procure raw material for concrete batching when the peak requirement was during the rainy season.

The Solution

To address the associated challenge in total,1272 piles were installed using 7 Piling rigs, 10 Cranes and 2 batching plants were mobilized to the site which allowed a scheduled maintenance time without disturbing the target productivity. 700,000 safe man hours were consumed to deliver the project successfully satisfying all the 16 milestones.
